Micro Moths in St Helens

Micro moths are a whole group of moths which can be difficult to identify, usually have only scientific names and which are often ignored by moth trappers. They are under recorded in St. Helens, but below is a selection of those species which have been identified in the borough. The status of micro moths in St Helens changes almost on a daily basis in the summer, as new species are added to the list, and species that we thought were rare get caught in increasing numbers, so the information given here should only be used as a rough guide.
