Backyard moth trapping in St Helens

Below is a full list of all moths caught in my yard, excluding micros, which I hope to include at a later date.

As I trap five nights per week in summer and at least twice a week in winter in exactly the same location (and have done since May 2001), it is possible to make a comparison between 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 to see which species are declining and which are increasing. Some stay remarkably consistent. When viewing these lists, remember that each species has it's own flight period, so it may not have emerged yet this year. Don't be surprised if the Large Yellow Underwing count for this year is zero, if you are viewing this in May. Large Yellow Underwings fly from about mid-June to September.  Last updated 9th October 2005.
